Allhabad Bank announces relief for affected poultry owners

Kolkata, Feb 22 (UNI) Allahabad Bank today announced some relief measures to the affected poultry owners and farmers following out break of bird flu in the State.

According to a Bank release here, the relief measures included conversion of principal and interest due on working capital loan to term loan as well as reschedulement of instalment and interest on term loan extended to poultry units, financed by the Bank.

The farmers could also avail fresh need-based finance for recommencement of their activity after three months from the date of outbreak, which was reported mid January.

The Bank had also decided to extend fresh loan on four per cent interest to those existing borrowers and farmers under DRI schemes fullfilling the required criteria for alternate livelihood, the release said.

The decision to extend relief had been taken keeping in view largescale culling of birds, steep fall in demand for poultry products and their prices leading to loss of income.
