Aitzaz to sue Punjab for 'illegal' detention
Islamabad, Feb 22 (UNI) The detained president of Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan Ch Aitazaz Ahsan would file a Rs 2 billion lawsuit against the Punjab government for his ''illegal'' custody.
''I will file a damage suit amounting to Rs 2 billion against my illegal detention. The damages suit worth billions of rupees will also be filed against the government for keeping deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and his family members,'' he was quoted by the Nation as saying.
Punjab Home Secretary Khusro Pervez Khan, however, said Mr Ahsan would kept under house arrest till the formation of a new government in the province.
The 30-day detention order against the SCBA president ends on March 2, but it was expected to continue.
Mr Khan said deployment of police was being strengthened around Mr Ahsan's house, specially after the yesterday's PML-N rally in support of deposed judges.
