Tirkey breaks fast on Maken's request
Ranchi, Feb 21 (UNI) Congress party MLA Neal Tirkey, who was on fast unto death demanding removal of state minister Anosh Ekka from UPA backed Madhu Koda cabinet, today broke his ongoing fast at the request of Congress Working Committee member and Jharkhand party affairs in-charge Ajay Maken.
Mr Maken who arrived here said that Mr Tirkey's stand against corruption in the state has emboldened the party and they would not compromise on it.
''I have asked Mr Tirkey to break his fast but to continue the agitation against corruption,'' Mr Maken said.
Mr Tirkey, MLA from Simdega area, was on fast from February 12 seeking removal of state's rural develoment minister alleging that the latter had indulged in corruption and failed to implement developmental schemes.
Later, Mr Maken left for Delhi along with Mr Tirkey.
