Srinagar, Feb 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police has foiled an attempt to kidnap an eighth class girl student at Hyderpora on the Sriangar- Airport road.

Inspector General (IG) police, Kashmir range, Shiv Murari Sahai said two youths identified as Shakeel Ahmad Khan and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat both residents of Humhama Budgam and a three-wheeler driver tried to kidnap the girl, Sehrana, daughter of Mohammad Maqbool Khan resident of Tengpora when she was returning from her tuitions.

However, the girl shouted for help, attracting the attention of those present in the area.

Later, the incharge Naka Party at Hyderpora crossing and Police Flying squad intercepted the auto and recovered the kidnapped girl.

He said one of the accused Shakeel Ahmad Khan was arrested on the spot while another accused and driver managed to escape along with the three wheeler.

The girl was handed over to her parents, he said, adding another accused has also been arrested. The three-wheeler driver was still absconding, he said.

Mr Sahai said 25 Flying Squads have been posted at different places in city which are operating under command and control of Police Control Room Srinagar.
