Drinking water supply project to be completed by May

Ariyalur, Feb 21: The Rs 44.12 crore-drinking water supply project taken up by Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board in Ariyalur and Perambalur districts will be completed by May 2008.

According to TWAD sources, the project would provide drinking water to 382 habitations in Ariyalur, Tirumanur and Senthurai panchayats and 143 habitations in Veppur and Alathur panchayats.

Ariyalur District Collector Xavier Chrisso Nayagam said 70 per cent of the work was completed and a proposal was sent to the government for undertaking a similar project at Jayankondam at a cost of Rs 19.61 crore to cover 281 habitations.
