Devaswom orders inquiry into missing of gold from temple

Kochi, Feb 21 (UNI) The Cochin Devaswom Board has initiated a departmental inquiry into the missing of gold worth Rs 11 lakh from the 'Swarna Kolam' of the Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple at Tripunithura near here.

The Board had appointed Devaswom Vigilance Officer Subramanyam to conduct the probe, official sources said.

Action would be taken after getting the detailed inquiry report.

The gold weighing 954 gm was found missing yesterday, when the 'Kolam' was taken out from the storeroom for repair works prior to the festival, scheduled for month end.

The 'Kolam' is meant for parading the deity on top of elephants on auspicious days.
