740 polling stations hyper sensitive:CEO Ponraj
Kohima, Feb 21 (UNI) Altogether 12,99,888 voters will exercise their franchise in 1,780 polling stations throughout Nagaland on March five Assembly elections, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) C J Ponraj today said.
Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Ponraj said of the total polling stations, police have identified 740 as hyper-sensitive, while 554 were sensitive and 486 normal.
Some more poll stations were yet to be declared sensitive after reviewing the security situation there, the CEO added.
He also informed that about 48 polling stations were in remote areas and were inaccessible. Of these nine each were in Peren, Kiphire and Mon districts and 12 in Tuensang and rest in Phek and Longleg districts.
However, the numbers might increase if there is rain, Mr Ponraj said.
Altogether 31 election observers were deputed in the state to monitor the ongoing electioneering and expenditure by the candidates during campaigs. 21 of them were general observers and the rest were expenditure observers.
