Recovery Certificates issued against 71 sugar mills in UP
Lucknow, Feb 20 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today admitted in the state assmebly that Rs 1200 crore was due to cane farmers from the sugar mills for the current crushing season while the dues amounting to Rs 582 crore for the season 2006-07.
Recovery Certificates (RCs) had been issued to 71 sugar millls after finding them as defaulters in payment of sugar cane dues, UP Agriculture and Sugarcane Development Minister Nasemuddin Siddiqui told the House.
In reply to a question the RCs had been issued and 15 per cent interest rate was also fixed for sugar mills to be paid to cane growers in the state.
He said the government was concerned for the problems of cane farmers and making all efforts to ensure timely payment to them.
