One killed four injured in Bengal blast

Jalpaiguri, Feb 20 (UNI) At least one person was killed and four others were injured today when a cycle bomb, allegedly planted by the ULFA or KLO, exploded in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district.

The blast occurred near Barovisha police checkpost under Alipurduar sub-division of the district after a person left the bomb on a cycle kept by the roadside.

North Bengal IG R S Nalwa said, '' This may have been the handiwork of the ULFA or the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation. '' Mr Nalwa, however, laid more stress on the possible involvement of the ULFA, which had recently made similar bomb attacks in Assam.

''Police officers are presently on the location. Confirmation regarding the involvement of any militant outfit can only be arrived at after proper invetigation, '' he added.

The injured, admitted to Alipurduar Sadar Hospital, were later released.

No arrest has been made so far.
