Mild quake rock Srinagar this morning

Srinagar, Feb 20 (UNI) A mild earthquake rocked Srinagar and its adjoining areas this morning, forcing people to come out of their houses in temperature below normal.

A weather office spokesman said the 2.9 magnititude tremors were felt at 0806 hrs and lasted few seconds.

He said its epicenter was 30 km from summer capital somewhere in Sonmarg area on Srinagar- Leh national highway.

Official sources said people rushed out of their houses in panic in the city despite below normal temperature.

There was no report of any loss of life or damage to property.
