HRD sanctions Rs 640.30 cr for NE education

Shillong, Feb 20 (UNI) The Planning Commission has earmarked an outlay of Rs 640.30 crore for Northeast in this fiscal under the Department of Higher Education.

An official release of the Human Resource Development ministry today stated that Rs 177.22 crore has already been sanctioned.

A number of schemes have been launched for the educational development in the region to be implemented through the state governments and autonomous bodies.

The education department, at present, earmarked about ten per cent of its Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) for implementing these schemes in the region.
