Gayatri Devi sit-in at Moti Dingri against land mafia
Jaipur, Feb 20 (UNI) Rajmata Gayatri Devi of Jaipur resorted to a sit in in protest against the unauthorised constructions by the land mafia at heritage hill at Moti Dungri today.
The step followed after alleged government failure to stop the 'unauthorised' construction going on in the area in violation of the court order directing a 'status quo'.
Gayatri Devi as the chairman of the Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh Benevolent Trust in a petition in the Moti Dungri police station on Jnuary 25 this year complained that an unauthorised construction is going on at Shanti Path (back of Moti Dungri towards Rajasthan University) of the land owned by the Trust.
She also alleged in the complaint that the construction is being carried out even after felling of trees in the area." The anti social elements even broke down the boundary wall and cut down the trees.
They also removed the sign board of the trust," complained Gayatri Devi.
"The heritage hill is completely destroyed. The land was given to the government of Rajasthan to develop it as a green area for the people of Jaipur," she said. She asked the government to save the land from being encroached by land mafia and construct a park for the people of Jaipur.
In question is 12 bigha of land on the down stream of the Moti Dungri fort. Many slums like Sanjay Basti, Ganesh Nagar Kachi Basti, and Gujjar Kachi Basti have come up in the area after the land was handed over to the government. The Meena Housing Cooperative society is constructing a residential building in the area much to the chagrin of the Rajmatha.
Cases are pending in the court between Sanjay Basti and Sawai Jai Singh Benevolent Trust and Meena Housing Cooperative Society and the Sawai Jai Singh Benevolent Turst over the ownership of land and the court had ordered to maintain "status quo" in the area.
