Cong raps BJP in Raj for not providing enough to farmers
Jaipur, Feb 20 (UNI) Criticising Rajasthan government for inadequate financial assistance to state farmers for their damaged crops, veteran Congress leader Parasram Maderna has sought Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi's intervention for a Central package for the affected.
In a letter to Ms Gandhi, he said a grant of Rs 126 crore from the state government was not enough for the farmers whose crops were damaged due to bad weather for a third consecutive season.
''The BJP government was playing politics with the agrarian community by just releasing Rs 126 against an estimated damage of Rs 1000 crore,'' he said.
Meanwhile, a large number of farmers accompanied by a Congress delegation were scheduled to meet Ms Gandhi in New Delhi tomorrow to seek immediate relief from the Centre.
