Cong for Women Reservation Bill in Budget session
New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The ruling Congress today said it would call upon the UPA Government to pass the Women Reservation Bill in the Budget session of Parliament beginning on February 25.
''Our stand is clear. We want 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State legislatures.... We will call upon the UPA Government to pass the Bill as soon as possible, possibly in the Budget session,'' Party spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan told reporters.
Hitting out at the main Opposition party, she said it was the BJP that had gone back on its commitment on women reservation.
''The BJP now says that the political parties that should provide the reservation...,'' she added.
