CM, among eight, in election code violation
Agartala, Feb 20 (UNI) The Sector Officers in Sonamura Sub-Division of West Tripura have lodged complaints against eight candidates of four constituencies, including Chief Minister Manik Sarkar for violating the electoral code of conduct, on the instruction of observers.
Tripura state election department sources here today said observers of Dhanpur (CM's constituency), Sonamura, Boxnagar and Nalchar in the sub-division found both parties had used government property without prior permission for their political campaign.
The sector officers of the constituencies concerned had lodged complaints against the candidates for violation of the Tripura Prevention and Defencement of Property Act in the local police stations.
Meanwhile, the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has asked all political parties of the state to follow the norms of election code to conduct a free, fair and transparent poll in Tripura.
