Blast injures five in Jalpaiguri district
Jalpaiguri, Feb 20 (UNI) Five people were seriously injured in a bomb blast, allegedly triggered by the ULFA or KLO, in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district today.
The blast occurred near Barovisha police check post under Alipurduar Sub-division of the district, after a person left the bomb on a cycle kept by the roadside.
North Bengal IG R S Nalwa said, ''This may have been the work of the ULFA or the Kamtapur Liberation Organisation.'' Mr Nalwa, however, laid more stress on the possible involvement of the ULFA, which had recently made similar bomb attacks in Assam.
''Police officers are presently on the location. Confirmation regarding the involvement of any militant outfit can only be arrived at after proper investigation,'' he added.
The injured have all been admitted to Alipurduar Sadar Hospital.
So far no arrests have so far been made.
