LJP apprises PM's of deteriorating law
New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) today apprised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of the allegedly ''deteriorating law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh jeopardising the safety and security of innocent people of the state especially that of the dalit and minority communities.'' LJP President Ram Vilas Paswan, in a letter to the Prime Minister said that three people were allegedly shot dead in broad daylight on February 6 under Kasna Thana in Gautam Budh nagar, bordering the national Capital by henchmen of a minister in the Mayawati Government.
He also alleged that the accused had demanded huge amount of money as donation for birthday celebrations of the UP Chief Minister. Such demands were allegedly made last year also. But despite UP High Court's directive and repeated demands by the deceased to provide them adequate security, the local administration and the police turned a blind eye resulting in the murder, it added.
The letter pointed out that in the past month, 14 members of the Minority community had been allegedly murdered in Western Uttar pradesh. The State Government had completely failed to protect the lives of innocent people, particularly those belonging to the Scheduled Caste and minority, it added.
Stating that this was a matter of serious concern, the LJP has demanded immediate action to book the culprits responsible for this heinous crime. Since a minister of the UP Governemnt was allegedly involved, the local police was under pressure not to conduct an impartial investigation and find out the truth, the letter said, adding that the case should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI).
