Haryana Cabinet approves bill to replace ordinance
Chandigarh, Feb 19 (UNI) Haryana Cabinet today approved the draft bill to repeal the Haryana State Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Ordinance, 2007.
The approval was granted at its meeting presided by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The introduction of the Bill was necessitated because Section 3 of the Haryana State Legislature ((Prevention of Disqualification) Act, 1974 provided certain offices of profit not to disqualify the holder thereof for being elected as, or for being a member of the Legislature of Haryana.
The office of Chairman, Haryana State Administrative Reforms Commission was not included in the clause of Section 3. Therefore, an Ordinance was issued on November 13, 2007 to include the office of Chairman, Haryana State Administrative Reforms Commission in the Clause.
The Bill would be known as the Haryana State Legislature (Prevention of Disqualification) Amendment Bill, 2008.
