Mangalore, Feb 19 (UNI) To help enterprises in unorganised sector, the National Commission for Enterprises will suggest the Centre to set up a National Fund for Unorganised Sector (NAFUS).
Delivering a lecture, organised as part of the Founders Day of Karnataka Bank Limited (KBL) here yesterday, Commission Chairman Arjun K Sengupta said the Commission had suggested the Centre to set up a fund to help the enterprises in the unorganised sector, facing financial constraints.
He said the condition of workers in the unorganised sector was dismal and they were not enjoying any social security.
''About 94 per cent of the workforce in the country is in the unorganised sector whereas only six to seven per cent workforce is in the private and public sectors,'' he said.
He said the unorganised sector contributed 32 per cent to national GDP and urged the Centre to do something to aid the sector to develop economically.
