Anti-privatisation activists block traffic on NH
Kapurthala Feb 19 (UNI) In response to bandh call given by joint action committee against privatisation, the activists of four organisations today blocked the vehicular traffic for two hours this afternoon on Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway at Dhilwan.
Hundreds activists staged a dharna in the middle of road resulting in long queue of vehicles. The four organizations which blocked the traffic include Naujwan Bharat Sabha, Kirti Kissan Union, Paendu Mazdoor Union and Punjab Nirman Sabha.
However,the bandh failed to evoke any response in the city as all the commercial establishments remain opened throughout the day.
SSP Rakesh Aggarwal claimed that no untoward incident had been reported from any part of the district and the bandh passed off peacefully.
He said traffic was diverted from Subhanpur to Goindwal Sahib because of the traffic blockade by the activists at Dhilwan.
