Annual plan outlay for Pondy fixed at Rs 1,750 cr: CM
Puducherry, Feb 19 (UNI) Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy today said the Planning Commission had fixed the annual plan outlay for the state at Rs 1,750 crore in 2008-09 compared to Rs 1,455 crore last year.
Addressing a press conference here, he said though he sought a Central assistance of Rs 150 crore, it was assured that the state will also get an assistance of Rs 85 crore compared to Rs 76 crore allotted last year.
The department wise allocation will be made later, he added.
Mr Rangasamy said he had projected infrastrucutre development, tourism, education, health, agriculture, IT and port development to avail higher allocation.
He said for setting up the government medical college, funds will be allocated through health department and the construction works will be completed soon to commence classes from next academic year.
The Chief Minister said the Thirunallar temple town project will be taken up with the help of HUDCO for which the proposal was sent to the Union Home Ministry for approval.
On port development, he said the administration is yet to receive the report of the expert committee constituted to deal with the issue.
