Andaman's lone MP on hunger strike
Port Blair, Feb 19 (UNI) Lone MP from Andaman and Nicobar islands, Manoranjan Bhakta, today began his indefinite hunger strike here in support of his 105 point charter of demands.
Mr Bhakta announced his decision after getting an approval from the Congress during a party meeting yesterday.
Hundreds of senior leaders were present near the MP to support his demands, including setting up of an Assembly and handing over Andaman Trunk Road back to Andaman PWD from Border Road Organization (BRO).
Earlier, both Mr Bhakta and Andaman Congress unit president Kuldeep Rai Sharma had written letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chief Sonia Gandhi in this regard.
