Vote counting begins in NWFP, adjacent areas

Peshawar, Feb 18 : Vote counting has started after polling concluded in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and adjacent tribal areas like other provinces of Pakistan.

An explosion was reported at a polling station in Bajaur tribal agency, while a man was killed in firing incident in Karak.

Foreign election observers visited polling stations at Peshawar, Naushehra and other areas.

The voters cast votes for four national and 11 provincial assembly seats in Peshawar. Large numbers of women voters were witnessed at many polling stations, but the turn out at some polling stations was lesser than the expected.

Foreign observers expressed satisfaction over polling arrangements in Peshawar and Naushehra.

In Charsadda four persons were wounded in clash between workers of two political groups at Yariband polling station.

Armed persons forcefully evicted polling staff and removed polling material from women polling station at Govt. Girls High Schoold Khar Ghalai, The News reported.
