Mumbai, Feb 18 (UNI) Police today claimed to have solved a robbery-cum-murder case, involving an aged woman, by arresting four people, including a 15-year-old servant of the deceased, from Orissa.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Rakesh Maria said the servant, identified as Deepak alias Chhotu, was working at the Worli residence of the victim, Kiran Khanna (65), since last three months. He had passed on an information to the other three accused that Rs 60 lakh were kept in the cupboard by his employer.

Initially, they had chalked out a plan of robbery on January 29 this year. But, on that day, the deceased's husband Nandkumar Khanna was at home, therefore, they cancelled it and then decided to do it on February 4.

Mr Maria said on February 4, the accused -- Girish Mehra (25), Sudhir Mehra (23) and Lallu Sahoo (22) -- rang the door bell. When Deepak opened the door, they allegedly assaulted him and pushed him away. Hearing his cries, Kiran came out of the kitchen but they also assaulted her and bolted her in the bathroom. She succumbed to her injuries at Jaslok Hospital here on the same day.

They removed the cash and valuables worth Rs 10.10 lakh from the cupboard and fled to their native place in Orissa.

They were brought here from Orissa yesterday. Deepak has been sent to a remand home at Dongri, he added.
