Mercury rises substantially ending cold spell
Kolkata, Feb 18 (UNI) The temperatures in the city and its adjoining areas today rose considerably with the day being sunny since the morning, resulting in the weather being warm and humid throughout the day.
The Alipore Met department recorded the day's minimum temperature at 17.4 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year, while the maximum was 30.6 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.
The maximum relative humidity plumetted to 93 per cent, making the day uncomfortable.
The Met sources forecast the mercury to rise further over the next 24 hours with the minimum temperature likely to be as high as 19 degrees Celsius.
