JE arrested while accepting bribe

Bangalore, Feb 18: A junior engineer of Haveri Town Municipal Council was arrested by the Lokayukta police on the charge of accepting a bribe for showing official favour.

A release from Loyayukta today said Malathesha Eswarappa Agadi, allegedly demanded Rs 43,000 as bribe from two contractors, who presented bills for Rs 2,11,170 and Rs 1,26,357 respectively, towards completion of work.

The official was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta, who laid a trap on Saturday, while accepting the money, the release added.
