New Delhi, Feb 18: Alleging that the lives and properties of migrants from northern parts of the country were unsafe in Congress ruled states, the BJP today asked leaders like Railway Minister Lalu Prasad not to do anything that would push people from his region to the mindless attack in Maharashtra and other places.

BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the migrant communities from Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh were attacked in Assam and in Delhi, the Congress Government narrowly missed imposing compulsory Identification cards. Now the migrants had become targets of attack by the Maharashtra Navnirman Samiti of Raj Thackeray.

He said the Railway Minister enjoying operating from cool comforts of Delhi was issuing provocating statements against MNS time and again risking the safety of migrant community. As a minister, he did nothing to pressurise the Centre to act decisively against the attacks but was only busy shedding 'crocodile tears' and repeatedly offering to conduct Chhath Pooja in front of MNS chief's house.

"This would only mean instigating a senseless attack and torture of the hapless migrant workers by MNS hoodlooms.

People sitting in Delhi should talk and act in a responsible manner", Mr Rudy said without referring to his caustic comments against agitating Kannadigas in Bangalore.

He said visuals of thousands of migrants fleeing Pune, Nashik and Thane was a grim reminder of partition days. The BJP dares Mr Prasad either to protect the dignity of fleeing migrants or quit the government. Shedding crocodile tears and making trans country insinuations would amount to 'coward rhetoric' without serving any purpose, he added.
