Century ply to set up MDF plants in Punjab, Uttarakhand

Lucknow, Feb 18 (UNI) Under its expansion plans, Century Plyboards Ltd has managed clearance from the Centrally Empowered Committee to set up the Medium Density Fibre (MDF) plants at Punjab and Uttarakhand.

Clearance from the respective governments have already been received, while other formalities are underway, Sajjan Bhajanka, Managing Director CPIL said in a press release here today.

The proposed MDF facility in these two states will have an installed capacity of 150,000 cbm per annum.

Mr Bhajanka said CPIL is also expanding its capacity by Greenfield and Brownfield projects. The consolidated capex of Rs 2,050 crore will be invested in the next two years for the expansion plan along with expansion under the subsidiaries.

He said Centuryply in its bid to diversify was also commencing the Container Freight Station(CFS), an extension of its already existing jetty and logistics operations. This will be one of its kind in the entire eastern region.

'' At present the Kolkata port is facing severe congestion problem in container handling and the CFS is the only solution to deal with this'', the official said.
