AIMIM, TDP lock horns over Gujarat communal carnage
Hyderabad, Feb 18 (UNI) The main opposition Telugu Desam Party today staged a noisy protest after All India Majilis-E-Itihadul Muslimeen Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi questioned the former's ''secular credentials'' for continuing support to the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre even after the communal carnage in BJP-ruled Gujarat.
The TDP, which remained silent during the communal carnage in Gujarat, was now trying to politicise the murder of Ayesha Mira in Vijayawada recently, Mr Owaisi charged while participating in the inconclusive debate on the motion of thanks for the Governor's address.
Furious TDP members stalled the proceedings for some time demanding that one of their party colleagues be given time to give clarification.
TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu had demanded the resignaton of the Narender Modi Government in the wake of the communal carnage in Gujarat, TDP legislator P Keshav maintained.
It was the Congress party which was now in power at the Centre that remained silent when Babri Masjid was demolished, the TDP legislator contended.
Mr Owaisi wanted to know why the TDP continued its support to the NDA Government even after the Gujarat communal carnage.
