Speaker Somnath Chatterjee to visit Nagpur tomorrow
Nagpur, Feb 17 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee will be on a brief visit to the city tomorrow.
Mr Chatterjee will arrive here by air from New Delhi tomorrow morning, according to an official release here.
The Speaker is scheduled to interact with a select group of intellectuals in the afternoon, it said.
Later in the day, Mr Chatterjee would be accorded a civic reception by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), the release said.
Mr Chatterjee was scheduled to deliver a lecture on 'The role of legislature and judiciary in protecting and enhancing people's right in our democracy' at the High Court Bar Association.
The Bombay High Court Chief Justice Swatantra Kumar will preside over the programme.
The Speaker would also unveil a plaque to formally name a road adjacent to the High Court building here after the late A S alias Bhausaheb Bobde, former advocate general of Maharashtra, who passed away in November 2005. One of his sons, Justice Sharad Bobde, is a sitting judge of the Bombay High court, and another son, Vinod Bobde, is a practising lawyer in Supreme Court.
Mr Chatterjee would return to New Delhi by air tomorrow evening, the release added.
