Shantaram ridicules Advani on new definition on GDP

Panaji, Feb 17 (UNI) Goa Rajya Sabha Member Shantaram Naik from Goa, has ridiculed BJP leader L K Advani's claim of offering a new concept of GDP.

''The BJP's approach towards the country's issues had always been negative and its concept of GDP at best can be branded as - Go, Destroy and Prevent,''he said here today.

Referring to the reports in the media in which Mr Advani had promised the new concept of GDP, Mr Naik said that BJP had always encouraged its cadres to destroy the country's social and economic fabric and had indulged in preventing good things, which Congress government put forth before the Nation or tried to implement.

''With possessing a caucus of negative mind set, the BJP can only give the country a negative growth rate. Their past performance that refused to surge forward during their regime was well-known ,'' he said.

Mr Advani has reportedly offered a new definition of GDP as - 'good governance, development and protection' for the benefit of 'ordinary' Indians, if the NDA comes to power.
