RLD rally in drought hit Bundelkhand on Feb 18

Lucknow, Feb 17: Close on the heels of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Congress, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) is holding a rally in the drought affected Bundelkhand region tomorrow.

RLD president Chaudhary Ajeet Singh and general secretary, also former Irrigation minister, Munna Singh Chauhan would address the rally in Banda district, sources said. Party spokesperson Anil Dubey said the demand for a separate Bundelkhand state would be the main issue in the rally.
"Had the Central and the State governments paid attention towards the welfare of the region on time, farmers would not have been committing suicide today," he underlined. The people of the area could only get relief after formation of a separate Bundelkhand state, Mr Dubey maintained.

The BSP and the Congress had held their rallies in the impoverished region recently. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the principal opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) had also sent their respective teams in the region to take stock of the situation.
