Maya to gift 'Golden Palki' to saint Ravidas Temple

Varanasi, Feb 17: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati will handover a 'golden palki' estimated at Rs 12,500,000 crore to Saint Ravidas temple on the occasion of 631st birth anniversary of the saint here on February 21.

The palki - made of gold - weighs about one quintal and is a gift to the saint by his foreign devotees. The UP CM would present the magnificent gift to the temple administration at a grand celebration here. Unprecedented security arrangements were being made at the temple premises, besides making a helipad and a dais for the Chief Minister and other VIP guests.

The palki would reach here on February 20, in a truck especially made for the purpose, temple priest Yogiram said. The procession carrying the gift, had already left for Varanasi from Jalandhar. Lakhs of devotees worldwide would also congregate the place on the occasion, he added.
