Harsh Vardhan demands Education Minister's resignation
New Delhi, Feb 17 (UNI) Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Harsh Vardhan today demanded the resignation of state Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely for allegedly ''failing'' to keep his promise to providing admission to the poor people in private schools.
According to Mr Vardhan, an affidavit filed by the Education Department in the Delhi High Court said 185 schools built on land at cheap rates had not kept their promise of providing admission to the poor children.
Calling it backtracking on their promise, he said Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and Mr Lovely had announced during the last academic year that the schools built on land at cheap rates would provide free admission to the poor children.
The BJP leader alleged that there was ''motivated design'' between the state government and private schools. ''Even the DDA has a role to play,'' he claimed and demanded a thorough probe into it.
''There are about 9 lakh children who were denied admission in the private schools,'' Mr Vardhan claimed.
