BJP Mahila Morcha demands 33 pc reservation for women

New Delhi, Feb 17 (UNI) The BJP Mahila Morcha today demanded 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament, State Legislatures and for other Constitutional posts.

''Our fight is for empowering women and their rights, encourage their participation in nation building,'' BJP Mahila Morcha National President and Lok Sabha MP Kiran Maheshwari said in a statement.

More than a lakh women across the country participated in the rally at the Ramlila maidan here to support the demand of reservation. ''It is not a request any more, but a demand for our rights,'' Ms Maheshwari asserted.

The rally follows the BJP's decision to amend its party constitution, allowing 33 per cent reservation at all levels in the decision making fora of the party at its recent National Council meeting at the same venue.
