4 Indian fishermen reported missing
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Feb 17 (UNI) Four Indian fishermen, who ventured into the sea in a mechanised boat, were reported missing here today.
Official sources said a group of 700 fishing boats ventured into the sea yesterday 16 morning. While all other boats returned, one failed to reach the shore.
The missing fishermen were identified as Lawrence, Anthony Siluvai, Susai Viyakulan and Rockpeller.
The fishermen association had reported the missing to Tamil Nadu government and Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
Meanwhile, a group of seven Sri Lankan Tamil refugees, stranded at first isle in Indian Waters, were rescued by the ICG.
The refugees hailed from Vavuniya in the island nation.
In another incident, a Sri Lankan Tamil refugee identified as Ravi managed to swim to Rameswaram from the first isle, where he was dropped by a boat, the sources added.
