Vehicles to keep off roads tomorrow
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 16 (UNI) Motor vehicles in Kerala will keep off roads tomorrow as part of the state-wide strike called by various trade unions of motor workers to protest against the hike in prices of petrol and diesel by the Centre.
The dawn-to-dusk strike was being sponsored by the Joint Action Council (JC) of major trade unions, including CITU, AITUC and BMS, according to a statement here.
The Centre should rollback the latest hike in fuel prices, stating that the increase would not only affect the transport industry but the workers as well, the JC leaders said in the statement.
However, essential services like vehicles carrying milk and newspaper, marriage parties and amublances had been exempted from the strike, the statement added.
