Teacher suspended for deleting names of voters
Kendrapara, Feb 16 (UNI) The district administration has suspended a teacher on the charges of deleting the names of about 4000 Bengali speaking people from the voter list saying they were dead.
Kendrapara District Collector Kasinath Sahu said here today that Mohan Debnath of Ramnagar Upper Primary School under Mahakalpada police station, who worked as an enumerator was placed under suspension for negligence of duty.
Mr Sahu said an inquiry conducted by the district administration found Mr Debanath guilty.
The inquiry was ordered after several people complained that their names did not figure in the voter's list and they were mentioned as dead.
Mr Sahu said action would be taken against other enumerators if found guilty.
Meanwhile, the district unit of the CPI(M) held a demonstration in front of the office of collector and demanded action against other enumerators, who illegally deleted the names of several voters from the list.
