Maharana Mewar Awards announced
Udaipur, Feb 16 (UNI) Famous writer William Dalrymple, noted columnist Tavleen Singh, film maker Shyam Benegal, scientist K Kasturirangan, ex-foreign secretary Jagat Metha and social activist Aruna Roy will be honoured with the Maharana Mewar Foundation awards.
Announcing the awardees in various categories today, programme co-ordinator Mayank Gupta said the awards would be given away by chairman of the Foundation Arvind Singh Mewar at a special function to be held in the City Palace on March 2.
The Col James Todd international award to a foreign national for outstanding works would be conferred on William Dalrymple while the Haldighati award in the field of Journalism would be given to Tavleen Singh.
The Hakhim Khan Sur award for work in the field of communial harmony and national integration would be conferred on noted film producer-director Shyam Benegal and former diplomat Jagat Metha.
The Maharana Udai Singh award in the area of enviornment has been bagged by noted scientist Dr K Kasturirangan while the Pannadhai award for social work would be conferred on noted social activist Aruna Roy.
