Gowda criticises UPA Govt's policies
Madikeri, Feb 16 (UNI) Former Prime Minister and JD(S) Chief H D Deve Gowda today came down heavily at the UPA government at the Centre for pursuing policies that are detrimental to the welfare of the nation.
Addressing the JD(S) meet here, Mr Gowda alleged that the Centre had failed to check the infiltration of terrorists into the country.
''Unemployment and poverty are the two main issues, leading youth to terrorism,'' he said.
Mr Gowda said his party was committed to provide opportunity for the backward classes.
Earlier, welcoming former minister M C Nanaiah into the JD(S), he said the entry of Mr Nanaiah would further strengthen the party.
Later, Mr Nanaiah told that he joined JD(S) as he was opposed to the policies of the Congress and the BJP.
JD(S) State President Merajuddin Patel, addressing the gathering, accused the BJP of dividing major communities in the name of caste and religion.
