Commission stays SEZ land acquisition
Kakinada, Feb 16 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission today directed the East Godavari District Collector not to proceed further with the land acquisition proposed, pending further orders.
The Commission headed by Justice B Subhashan Reddy had asked the collector to file a report to the objections raised by the petitioners KSEZ Vyathireka Porata Committee, represented by Chinta Suryanarayanamurthy and social activist Medha Patkar, regarding the coercive methods used for land acquisition.
The Commission also directed KSEZ Director Karnati Venkateswera Rao to file a counter on behalf of the KSEZ by April 4.
