Oilseeds hold great potential in agri diversification
Ludhiana, Feb 15 (UNI) Padma Bhushan Dr Khem Singh Gill today said that oilseed crops in general and canola type mustard hold great potential in the agricultural diversification in Punjab.
The former Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) Vice-Chancellor, who recently visited the University field area and interacted with the scientists working on oilseed crops, said that the involvement of male sterility in the hybridization programme can be helpful in the development of hybrid seeds.
Dr Gill said that through shifting to hybrid seed production farmers can maximize their profitability.
He also discussed the oilseed breeding programme with Dr S S Banga of the Department of Plant Breeding.
