Nine extortionists arrested in Kashmir
Srinagar Feb 15 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have busted two gangs of extortionists with the arrests of nine persons in the Kashmir valley, a police spokesman said.
He said police at Sumbal had arrested five persons belonging to a gang of X-delta force, who were involved in extortion of Rs 50,000 from locals.
The arrested persons were identified as Lateef Ahmad Mir alias Lateef Gunda, Sarjan Mir alias Prince, Sayat Sheikh, Fayaz Ahmad Mir and Firdous Ahmad Bhat.
Another case of extortion was also solved by arresting four persons of Nowgam area, he said adding a mobile and Rs 3500 were recovered from them. The arrested persons are Shabir Ahmad Rather alias Viki Malhotra, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Manzoor Ahmad Mir, and Mohammad Ayub Dar.
