Milk distribution in schools likely to restart
Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) hopes to restart milk distribution in civic schools from this academic year.
Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak told reporters here today that the BMC-constituted task force had submitted its report on the scented milk issue.
The Standing Committee is expected to take a final decision on the milk distribution in its next meeting, Mr Phatak said.
''The BMC may decide to reduce the quantity of milk for the students of the lower classes as drinking 200 ml may be difficult for them,'' added Mr Phatak.
Last year, BMC had started the ambitious campaign of distributing free scented milk to all the school students but the practise had to be stopped after a few weeks, as many students fell ill after consuming it.
