India poised to become top ten machine tool consumer: IMTMA
Bangalore, Feb 15 (UNI) India is poised to be amongst the ten largest machine tool consumer countries during this year, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers Association President N K Dhand said today.
Speaking after the inauguration of 'Diemould India 2008' and 'Tooltech-2008' exhibitions here, he said many global players were now evincing keen interest in setting up manufacturing bases in the country.
He said major challenge before the Indian machine tool industry was to regain leadership position in the market, which currently was dominated by overseas suppliers.
The priority areas included technology to offer globally competitive products at cost-effective prices, scaling up of capacity and strategies to increase competitiveness and most importantly to provide exciting careers in the machine tool industry to engineering graduates.
President of Tool and Guage Manufacturers Assocaition (TAGMA) S C Kalyanpur said the objective of the two exhibitions was to bring together Indian and International manufacturers and consumers under one roof.
It had attracted international manufacturers catering to different industries like auto and auto ancillary, consumer durable, engineering, electronics, aeronautics and oil exploration, he said.
The sixth edition Diemould and tenth edition of Tooltech, jointly organised by TAGMA and IMTMA, has attracted more than 270 exhibitors from 17 countries.
