BMC completes census for animals
Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak today said that the Corporation has completed its census of animals in the city, and the tenders for dog shelters will be floated soon.
Mr Phatak said that the census is similar to the national survey and is not very accurate as the animals, particularly dogs, have a tendency to stray making it difficult to count their number.
''Since the dogs stray and attack people, it is difficult to keep track of them,'' Mr Phatak said.
But, Mr Phatak said, the census figures are not likely to differ from the actual figures by more than 15 to 20 per cent and the BMC will call for the tenders for dog shelters accordingly.
