Blaze destroys 50 huts in Mumbai
Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) At least 50 huts were gutted in a blaze that broke out due to bursting of firecrakers during a marriage celebration in a jhuggi at Mahim in Central Mumbai today.
However, there were no casualties, fire department officials said.
According to eyewitnesses, the blaze started at around 2030 hrs after a spark from a firecraker, burst during a marriage celebration, fell on the jhuggi, situated behind the Police Lines in Mahim, destroying around 50-60 huts.
Fire department officials said they have pressed into service 16 fire engines and four water tankers to extinguish the fire and have brought it under control.
