Antony to inaugurate 5th DefExpos-2008 tomorrow
New Delhi, Feb 15 (UNI) Defence Minister A K Antony will inaugurate the fifth DefExpo-2008 here tomorrow.
Organised by the Department of Defence Production, the four-day land and naval system exhibition would see the participation of around 273 companies from more than 30 countries.
As many as 202 companies from India would also display their products at the expo to be held at Pragati Maidan here.
This year, the United States would have the largest participants with 46 exhibitors displaying weapon system for the Army and the Navy.
The US would be followed by Russia with 43 exhibitors.
For the first time, telecom and IT companies have been invited to the biennial event to showcase their product and services.
Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, Defence Production secretary Pradeep Kumar said besides Russia and the US, the other major foreign participants were from the UK, Israel, South Africa, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Sweden and South Korea.
The first DefExpo was held in 1999.
