Tripura CM condemns Congress' critisism
Agartala, Feb 14 (UNI) Chief Minister and CPI(M) Politbureau member Manik Sarkar today condemned the Congress for criticising the developmental works undertaken by the Left Front government in Tripura.
Addressing an election rally here, Mr Sarkar said development was an ongoing process and started yeilding fruit in entire Northeast when H D Devegowda was the prime minister and during the NDA regime.
The Congress-led UPA government in Centre was just continuing the process and was nothing new, Mr Sarkar said adding that the same support was offered to all NE states. However, Tripura was able to grab the opportunity and hence more developed.
''Left front should be voted back to power because it has the ability to bring funds from the Centre and utilise it properly for the state's progress,'' he stated.
Mr Sarkar also claimed that the Left was the only party in India, which had been fighting against communalism, capitalism and uneven growth of the country.
