New Delhi, Feb 14 (UNI) Construction and engineering giant Larsen&Toubro Ltd (L&T) today said it has secured an order of Rs 311 crore from Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

''The contract, valued at Rs 311 crore, entails design, supply, installation and commissioning of five 66/11 sub-stations in Qatar, as a part of the Kahramaa Phase VIII,'' a company statement said.

The contract also includes designing and construction of sub-station buildings and associated utilities like air conditioning, fire fighting and lighting systems, it added.

The order comprises of 66/11 kV Gas insulated switchgears, 11 kV Metal clad air insulated switchgears, 50/60MVA 66/11 kV transformers, sub station control system, protection systems, DC system and auxiliaries.

All five substations of Kahramaa, which is the government body of Qatar for transmission and distribution of electricity, are to be completed in a time frame of 27 months, the statement added.
